Anyone who has connections with SBP, Mr. Mascarinas or MVP... Iam in correspondence with his father, the reason Ethan is not playing basketball ,its because of nagging knee pain, a certain Knee injury (sorry Im not at a liberty to divulge it as it is against data privacy law to divulge the specifics someones medical record without the consent of the patient or parent).. I ask the father to join here, so that he would be the one to give the medical status of Ethan.. Suffice to say that, he needs knee Surgery , Arthroscopic Surgery, and rehab of about 6 weeks... Cost of operation is Australia is about 10K Aussie plus rehab, they can do it in Public hospitals ,they there is a backlog they have to wait for 1 year to have the operation done. It will move back Ethans progress if he has to wait for 1 year for the operation and another 2-3 months for rehab.. Itbwill certainly stagnate his growth...

Hope can help Ethan in this...

It's that time of the year again, and what better way to end 2018 than to post our wishes for Philippine basketball for 2019?

Let me kick off this list:

1) A sweep of the next two qualifying games vs Qatar and Kazakhstan to get us into our second straight FIBA World Cup.
2) An in-form Andray Blatche to anchor the qualifying team and the team at the World Cup. This should be his last hurrah -- and what a fitting end to his international career.
3) FIBA recognition of Jordan Clarkson as a local player.
4) Kai Sotto finally signing with a team abroad. I'm more of an FC Barcelona fan, but if he goes to Real Madrid, why the hell not?
5) AJ Edu making it to the NCAA Tournament with Toledo.
6) Sotto and Edu leading the U-19 team to the knockout stages of the FIBA U-19 World Cup.
7) Another steady point guard for the U-19 team. One cannot have too many Panopio-type players.
8) Coach Tab finally coaching the U-19 team (and maybe the World Cup team too).
9) Another UP-Ateneo UAAP Finals series.
10) A successful SEA Games, with an all-college/HS core (Thirdy Ravena, Juan Gomez de Liano, CJ Cansino, Kai Sotto, Matt Nieto, Isaac Go, Justine Baltazar, Leonard Santillan, Justin Gutang, Arvin Tolentino, Ken Tuffin, maybe a young naturalized big) demolishing the rest of SEABA and proving that the Philippines is still light-years ahead of the competition.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

The team is doing great so far in the tournament.
Sweeping the classification round.

Notables so far:

Center: Randolph Morris (CBA veteran): very steady and smart veteran Center

Forwards: Justin Brownlee (Gi-Neb-Ra): needs no introduction, will be a very good small wing candidate for Gilas if well have a reliable local center
Roosevelt Adams and Jeremiah Gray : (Supra athletic high flying shooters college ballers from the US): both can jump off the gym, too bad they were not on the Gilas radar prior

Guards: Jason Brickman (Mr. Steady) : quick solid veteran point guard, hell end up in the PBA eventually
Juan Gomez de Liano (The Flash) He is the revelation for this tournament, at 19 he's proving he's more than ready to play with the big boys. He's making he's guards look super slow.

Philippine NBDL

NBDL going into its 2nd season is slowly shaping up as the best grassroot commercial league even over than MPBL... NBDL has been well managed and well thought and it is an honest to goodness Grassroots league as it only have players from that locality(Only players from QC can play for Quezon City tram for example)and gives opportunity to young players(18-29 year old only) with no prior Professional experience... MPBL is so politicize, more of a league to cater to politicians ro serve as a vehicle political adverticement and additional political mileage for them..

NBDL is even opening a Women NBDL league plus Youth league also(Under 17 and U12 Tourney)and may form an AllStar team to play at PBA DLeague to market also their top stars plus Paranaque team which won the inagaural tourney will play in Vietnam Professional league as their reward as the NBDL champion... Mukhang magaling ang Commisioner for thinking out of the box..

With Chris Ross expressing his desire to compete in the SEA games basketball tournament, it looks like we as hosts will be using the Olympic Charter for determining player eligibility. However, this also means the Thai-Am trio of Morgan, Lish and Lamb can be fielded together; and probably the Viet-ams currently playing for the Saigon Heat in the ABL. I'm thinking we play a mix of cadets and ineligbles (including new finds Roosevelt Adams and Jeremiah Gray, plus Jason Brickman-- the Gilas stint can do away with the D-league requirement for the PBA). And include two players who we've missed seeing in a Gilas uniform-- Romeo and Abueva. They're sure to draw the crowds and will be very effective at the Southeast Asian level.

Also, what do you think of having Kai play? Kaya ba niya ang mga men's teams? I have a feeling he can do well against older players at the SEA games level.
